*** IMPORTANT - To all our Military Veteran Patients and their Families: 21.03.2022

As a practice we are actively seeking to identify our Military Veteran patients who have served in the UK Armed Forces and any family members of Military Veterans to ensure they receive any support they may need.

This includes all Military Veterans and Reservists. You only have to have served one day in the Armed Forces.

We are sending out Questionnaires via text message for Military Veterans or their immediate family members, so watch out for these. They are very simple to complete.

Our local group of practices will be working together in the future to help offer tailored support as well as signposting to other services for our Military Veterans and their Families.

Thank you for your cooperation with this piece of work.

Who is being offered a spring booster?

COVID-19 is more serious in older people and those with a weakened immune system. Protection from the vaccine may be lower and may decline more quickly in these people. For this reason people aged 75 years and over, those in care homes and those aged 12 years and over with a weakened immune system are being offered the spring booster.

Although vaccines are expected to provide good protection against severe COVID-19 disease, protection against mild infection with the Omicron variant seems to decline quickly, even after the booster dose.

This spring booster is being offered as a precaution to those at extremely high risk, most of whom received their first booster around 6 months ago. If the number of infections increases over the summer, this booster should help to reduce your risk of being admitted to hospital with COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccinations for 5-11s

The NHS is now offering COVID-19 vaccinations to all children aged 5-11, in line with the latest advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). As well as protecting children against serious COVID infection and Long COVID, this will reduce the risk of children passing on the infection to others.

The practice is currently not offering vaccinations for this age group, unless they are within one of the at-risk groups who will be invited, but you can book an appointment at a convenient community or pharmacy vaccination centre. Please book online at or by calling 119, free of charge.

For further information on COVID-19 vaccinations for 5-11s please visit the NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group website.

Accessible Information Standard (AIS)

All organisations that provide NHS services, or publicly funded adult social care have implemented and conformed to the Accessible Information Standard (1605). This means we would like to record your preferred method of contact so that you can receive your health information in a format you can understand.

For most of us our preferred method of contact is our home number or mobile number but for example, if you suffer from hard of hearing or blindness that may not be suitable for you. If you or someone you are caring for wishes us to contact you in another way, please do let us know by informing our reception staff at the practice.   We will then record your needs by highlighting it on your medical records.
