Anti-Coagulant Monitoring (Warfarin)

Anticoagulant clinics are held weekly to monitor patients and to ensure their blood thinning medication is effective and safe. The dose of warfarin can be monitored and calculated using our testing procedure straight away, to ensure you are on the correct dose. The anticoagulation clinic also undertakes a community/house bound service for patients taking warfarin who cannot get to the surgery. The more recent, new medications for thinning the blood are also monitored in this clinic.

Our in house phlebotomy (blood testing) service runs Monday to Friday, and can also accommodate same day emergency blood tests. The service is private, fast and caters for a wide range of tests and procedures. The surgery also undertakes many more diagnostic testing including spirometry (lung function), ear syringing, ECG analysis (heart tracing) and swabs. The above are provided on an appointment basis following a referral or request from your GP or nurse.

If when seeing the GP or Nurse they feel that you would benefit from input from the Dietician, we are able to offer you this service and you will be seen in-house.

Our gym at Rycroft Primary care Centre is fully equipped to keep you fit, motivated and as healthy as you can be. Our experienced instructor is on hand to guide you through the equipment and design a programme that is individual to your needs.  You can also get advice on lifestyle changes such as improvements to your diet and daily exercise routines. Please come along to arrange an assessment or pick up a leaflet whilst you are here.

Long Term Condition Clinics

It is important that if you have a long term condition such as Asthma, COPD, Diabetes or Epilepsy that we review you, your medication, side effects, risks and issues regularly to maintain your health.

The clinics are set up to provide you with as much time and access as you need, and they are mainly run by our experienced nurses.
The long term conditions requiring regular reviews include:

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Epilepsy
  • Heart failure/disease
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Please ask reception for a long term condition review with a nurse if you have not been reviewed recently or you are experiencing problems. We can arrange for a nurse who can visit you at home if you are housebound to undertake your reviews. Most conditions need reviewing annually if you are stable, although some need much more regular checks such as diabetes.
